Easter Bronchitis and Oompa Loompa Island

Last weekend when I got back from England I caught a cold and slept pretty much 48 hours straight until my fever broke just in time for me to go to work on Monday. However, my low fever never went away and neither did my cough or sore throat so after a week of trying to beat the germs on my own, I finally went to the doctor on Sat April 23rd and was diagnosed with Bronchitis.

This doctor experience inspired a blog story for me because its so easy to see the doctor in Hong Kong. I go to a chain called Quality Healthcare. They've got little shops all over Hong Kong. I can stop at any one of them, anytime and see a doctor within minutes (depending on how full the lobby is with sick people). This tiny lobby was empty on Saturday. Not fancy, but gets the job done.

Our apartment is that tall building in the distance and the clinic is there on the right side in this picture. So easy! 10 minutes at the doctor, no copay and they gave me all the meds before I left.

For any easy ailments, Hong Kong rules for getting medical help (although most Hong Kongers are over medicated and hypochondriacs I think, that that's a whole other topic....)

Easter Sunday at the Beach
On Easter Sunday, Mark and I went to Lamma Island for a day on the beach with friends and their dogs.

I skyped with Ann and John before I left and Ann kept calling it Lamma Lamma Island and John asked if there was lots of chocolate on this Ooompa Loompa Island. Ahhh, that kept me smiling all day.

No chocolate, but we did have some sun chips and white wine on the beach and then watched the sun go down over the water at a restaurant before we took the ferry home.

This is little Gorby (Mel and Ferg's dog) and he's terrified of grooming clippers but since he's a terrier mix and its getting hot, he needed a haircut. So Laura and Mel trimmed/hacked away while on the beach with a pair of scissors. I think he feels a little naked here. Cute isn't he (of course, I also think Sasha is adorable...)

Last but not least, below are 2 pics from another recent Lamma Island day last month. Just the girls this time. Laura's dog Baz kept guard over us girls. Meanwhile Laura's dog Stanley and his brother Sebastian, shepherd/great dane mixes, tore around the beach playing and looking gorgeous.
