Mark's trip to Singapore/Sydney

Mark came back from his business trip to Singapore and Sydney last Saturday, July 19th. Below are some pics from his trip. He went with his boss Julian. He went to Singapore 1st for 4 days but only got out to see the town one night. He said it was good enough we should go back for a weekend trip though.

Then they went straight to Sydney for another 4 days. Lucky Mark, the Pope was in town for World Youth Day and so there were Catholic revelers everywhere.

If you look closely, you'll see Mark jumping up and down in the front row cheering. (with red devil eyes)


Singapore
Here is the view from Mark's office in Singapore and the fireworks over the bar/restaurant area of Singapore called Clark Quay. When we go for the weekend someday, we'll get better pictures.

Olympics
Hong Kong Olympic fever is heating up as the Olympics get closer (only 12 days to go). Someone who is running in the torch relay stopped by my office Friday with the torch and so some of us took turns posing with it.

Here's Mark's boss Julian on a smoke break next to the relay sign when it went through Hong Kong.

On Saturday, July 19th when Mark returned from Sydney, we had another goodbye event for a coworker of mine. Tara is moving back to Portland, Oregon and she had a goodbye junk (boat) cruise on Saturday. We didn't get too many pictures on the cruise but we did get one of Rob posing under these ginormous Olympic rings lit up over Victoria harbor.

Goodbye Rob
On Sunday, July 20th, Rob officially left Hong Kong to go live in Germany/Switzerland. (He'll work in Germany and go home to Alexis on the weekends in Zurich).

Mark and I met him for a going away dinner at Bistro Manchu, a favorite Chinese/ Mongolian food restaurant.

Rob gave me the very thoughtful going away gift of a frozen bag of peas. (He cleaned out his fridge and freezer and gave me whatever wasn't garbage. Sweet.)

This past week, I've had a cold/flu so have been out of commission and nothing new to report except that I've struggled through each work day to collapse as soon as I get home. We'll go see the Dark Knight tonight though which Mark has been begging to see since the day it premiered. Ah Heath Ledger, we'll miss him.
