Well, we hired a maid. Not a full time maid though. Just someone to come by once a day to take Bailey out to relieve her bladder and to do some housework. She's just here 1 hour a day Monday -Friday and after one week, that seems like more than enough time. There's only so much mess 2 people can create each day, especially since we are only home a few hours each day and most of those hours spent comatose in front of the TV (or in front of the computer in Mark's case.) Her name is Beverly and she just moved here from the Philippines to take care of her Aunt's 2 little kids. She's able to come to our apartment when the kids are at school. It's a perfect match.
It's so great having someone to help with the household chores that we dread. We can leave dishes in the sink without guilt and pile up clothes in need of laundering, and "poof" we come home and it's all clean and put away. Magic. AND, she loves Bailey! We knew our dog was perfect, but it's nice to have strangers confirm the fact. Each day she leaves us notes letting us know how wonderful Bailey is. That Bailey's sooooo quiet and obedient. That when she tells her "no, don't eat the garbage" while out on a walk, Bailey just sniffs it and walks away. I'm not sure if I believe any of these things, but it's nice of her to say them. After the first day, she wrote she thought Bailey was lonely. Well, of course she is. Bailey's daddy has spent the last 7 months with her at home every single day and now he's back to a normal work life. She misses her playmate.
Mark's new job
Speaking of Mark being back to a normal work life, he's completed his first week of work and he really likes it. It's the same type of day-to-day work he did back in his old job in the USA when he did computers for a law firm. The firm he works for now is huge and the people are very friendly. Friendly, relaxed work culture which is a good match for a relaxed guy like Mark.
The other big news this week is Mark's parents are coming to Hong Kong for a visit! They'll be here on Thursday night through January 31st and they'll be staying with us. It'll be nice to have them here and to show off the city a bit. Bailey is going to FREAK OUT when she sees them, so we'll have to make sure we do that 1st meeting outside or she'll disturb the entire 29 floors of the building with her shrieks of joy.
Bailey's Vet Report
Bailey's ear is healing up well. The labs came back negative, proving it was just a disgusting cyst that would've gotten bigger and more disgusting until it burst and got infected. So, good thing we had it removed. Her bandage is off and her stitches are out and if she didn't have a shaved ear, you wouldn't even know she had the surgery. We even took her on a big hike up Mt Butler today and she has the energy of a puppy. She played with other dogs and when we got to the top of the 3 km uphill climb, we found a grassy play area and let her off leash and she ran around top speed like a delirious lunatic. Even after the run, she had energy to spare. You'd never guess she's approaching her 10th birthday in March.
