It's been 1 week since Bailey had her back surgery and her recovery is slow but promising. She still can't walk but she's figured out a way to get around. See the picture above to see her pitiful walk/drag. Her attitude is back 100% and she doesn't seem to be in any pain anymore. It'll be no surprise to Bailey's friends that she never had a problem with her appetite. She was hungry as soon as she woke up from surgery! The 1st few days were rough for her. She couldn't control her bladder and we had to use doggy diapers which was very embarrassing for her especially since her grandma and grandpa Karen and Larry were still here.
She was completely dependent on us just like a newborn baby just lying still and crying for whatever she needed. Now, she's like a toddler learning how to walk. Last week, I cancelled a trip to Shanghai so I could be close to her and make daily trips home on my lunch hour to check in on her. But, this week Bailey's dog-nanny/maid Beverly, will be back and will be able to help her out while we are at work.
She gets her stitches out on Wednesday and I'm hoping she'll be able to walk on her own by the end of the week. The doctor said it could take several weeks, but the last 2 days have been very promising so my fingers are crossed it will start to progress quickly.
Goodbye to Karen and Larry
Mark's parents left on Wednesday this past week after 2 weeks with us in our little apartment. I thought we'd gotten to know them really well during our 2 week vacation with them last year when we all went to Italy together, but that was nothing compared to living together for a few weeks in a tiny 1 bathroom apartment. We all had a really good time and the place actually feels a little empty with just the 3 of us again (however, empty is not necessarily a bad thing:-)

We are so happy that Bailey is able to walk/drag and that she is not in pain. You were great hosts, even though we were there at such a stressful time. We will return - scary thought isn't it - we loved Hong Kong!
Thanks for everything!
