What a good weekend! The week was only so-so, but the end ended with a bang.
The best calzone in Hong Kong
Mark had a bad stomach virus for 4 days and had to go to the doctor, but was better by Wednesday. He lost 8 pounds in 4 days though.
So, to fatten him up, we started the weekend by going to dinner at Grappa's restaurant, an Italian chain in Hong Kong.

I'd had a calzone there with some of my co-workers for Christmas lunch and had been talking about it ever since, so Mark and I went on Saturday and Grappa's lived up to the hype. All the delicious doughy, cheesy goodness is so unusual here. In fact, we're going back tomorrow. I can't wait.
Hike up Dragon's Back Since I needed to work off the fatty calzone, I went for a hike on Sunday with Alexis and Rob (while Mark stayed home and slept after staying up all night watching WSU basketball play UCLA).

We hiked Dragon's Back trail. I'ts about 5 miles long and you go up a big hill and then it follows the humps of the hill like a dragon's back. The hike ends in the town of Shek O, at Big Wave Beach.

We stopped for lunch at the beach in a cafe and

watched the surfers try to make something out of the puny waves.
Hong Kong Dog Rescue and BeerLater in the day, we had the best time at a Hong Kong Dog Rescue event that our friends Laura and Mel helped coordinate.

Once again combining their favorite activities, beers and hanging out with dogs.
The event was at a bar called Soda and it had 2 for 1 drinks with donations going to the shelter.
We took a leap of faith and brought Bailey, hoping she would behave. I'm so proud of the little girl. She was an angel.

She was overwhelmed by all the dogs and at first kept trying to hide or get away, but after awhile, she crawled up on my lap and enjoyed the view of all the butt sniffing in front of her (that is, view of dogs sniffing each other, of course).
